Breaking Ground on Pedestrian Bridges

The Fall Creek Township held a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday to commemorate the development of Fall Creek Woods Natural Area. The development of the natural area continues with the construction of a 40 and 80-foot pedestrian bridge over the wooded ravines, as well as a large, 600-foot switchback that will connect the trails within the park. In total, more than 150 helical piers will be bored into the ravine to hold the structures.

Fall Creek Trustee, Doug Allman, has been instrumental in developing this project over the past few years. “Fall Creek Woods is unique to our area,” states Allman, “you are able to enjoy the beauty of the woods while observing animals in their natural habitat.”

Local contractor, Meyer Najem, will be working alongside Fall Creek Township to build the new structures. “Meyer Najem is proud to continue our partnership with Fall Creek Township,” says Senior Project Manager, Adam Windler. “ We are excited to see how this project will give the local community greater accessibility to the natural area.”

The natural area currently has over 4 miles of walking trails, which will now be connected by the construction of pedestrian bridges and switchbacks. This project is expected to be completed in Spring 2023.

The Hamilton County Health Department will hold a town hall at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 22 for parents on the fence about getting their children vaccinated against COVID-19.

This is part of a larger push to get more kids vaccinated before the start of school – especially as a precaution against the fast-spreading Delta variant. Don’t miss this town hall meeting!

Hamilton County Plans Domestic Violence Shelter

The Hamilton County Council voted in June to pay Fishers-based engineering and architecture firm RQAW $14,500 to design a refuge for adults and families who are victims of abuse.

The shelter would allow Noblesville-based not-for-profit Prevail Inc. to refer people escaping abuse to a location within Hamilton County. That’s not an option now. Instead, Prevail sends victims out of the county for help.

Hamilton County Council Approves Career Center Funding

The Hamilton County Center for Career Achievement is a partnership between local school districts and other groups in Hamilton County to offer CTE, or career and technical education, pathways for students in trades such as energy and agriculture science, and skilled trades such as construction management, exercise science, and other disciplines. Instead of constructing a career center, instead, the school districts in Hamilton County are pledging to partner with other entities such as local chambers of commerce and the county to offer the CTE programs. The funding will go toward hiring an executive director for the career center, funding research, and development, and implement alignment and enrollment.
